Since 2014, Korean artist Lee Ufan has been in residence at the Manufacture de Sèvres, reviving the age-old know-how of its workshops. The monastic silence of the place, the ritualized ballet of the craftsmen’s gestures and the purity of the porcelain resonated with the artist’s works, as if self-evident.
About fifty unique works in Sèvres porcelain or terracotta are created at the end of this residence. She ends with her exhibition at the Sèvres gallery, from 28 September to 10 November 2016, entitled Les fragments et la fenêtre. Paintings, sculptures and installations rub shoulders in a bare scenography imagined by the artist.
