Tod’s Show at The Confluence of Savoir-faire and Fashion in Milan
Elegance is on the programme this fall-winter 2023/24, contemporary and refined, courtesy of Tod’s. The stage? “The Seven Heavenly Palaces”, a permanent site-specific artwork by Anselm Kiefer housed at the Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan. The collection carries a strong identity that reflects the high quality and craftsmanship of the Italian brand while combining it with the clean lines and softness of precious materials. Signed by Walter Chiapponi, artistic director of the brand, Tod’s proposal is a minimalist and modern collection of precious pieces. An unconditional praise for the Italian product and industry that put artisanship and industrial savoir-faire at the service of the idea. The designer’s references are to the imagery of Helmut Newton and his women, but also to that of a 90s Julia Roberts dressed in male clothes, or even in stripes. The garments are iconic and timeless: the peacoat with leather buttons that look like eyelets, parkas and bombers with elegant couture details, and extremely feminine and enveloping knits. Fabrics are exclusively natural and the palette is sober, mainly monochrome in camel, brown and cream, with closing looks in black and white. Tod’s dresses a woman who lives an urban everyday life, but whose sensuality also shines through. Laetitia Casta closed the show dressed in a striped suit cut like a trench coat. Guests at the show included Esther Abrami, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Bianca Balti, Georgia May Jagger, Massimiliano Caizzo and Chiara Ferragni.
