Nicolas Ghesquière’s Creative Force at Louis Vuitton

By postponing Louis Vuitton’s seasonal fashion week show by one day, Nicolas Ghesquière proved that he is not only a great designer, but also a fine strategist. In doing so, he avoided the constant strikes in Paris – a classic in France – and ensured a smooth show. The fashion crowd only had eyes for him and his immaculate sense of French style. The suits are pleated, puffy or low-cut, but they are always convincing. At the Musée d’Orsay, in a scenography designed by Philippe Parreno, the very cinematographic music of composer Nicolas Becker would almost make us believe that we are participating in a gigantic fiction in which actress Zendaya is the main heroine. Rich prints, luminous masks on the eyes, round shoulders, the influences speak to each other and answer each other in a graceful play of cuts and details. And as the show progressed, Ghesquière’s creative power did not falter, quite the contrary.
