The Elmgreen&Dragset Duo, Chen Ke, Laurent Grasso, and Octobre + On Show at Perrotin
To mark their 20-year collaboration with the gallery, artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset present “David and other sculptures”, a new solo exhibition featuring seven sculptures (or sculpted groups) representing a variety of scenarios. This is the duo’s tenth exhibition at the Parisian Gallery, which is also unveiling “Bauhaus Gal – Theatre”, Chen Ke’s first solo exhibition in Paris. In this show, the Chinese artist presents a series inspired by portraits of young female Bauhaus students, as well as architectural views staged in a theatrical setting. Also on view is “Orchid Island”, Laurent Grasso’s eighth solo exhibition with the gallery, and his fourth in Paris. Grasso reveals a new film shot in Taiwan, as well as a series of paintings and sculptures. Last but not least, Octobre+ invites visitors to discover a selection of works by artists represented by the gallery in a special display mode. At the same time, Perrotin was launching Octobre+ at the Salle de Bal, a special display celebrating the second edition of Paris+ by Art Basel, open to the public throughout the entire Paris+ week.
During the opening evening, sponsored by Perrier Jouet champagne, we met Warren Ellis, Nicolas Godin, Sophie Calle, Xavier Veilhan, Iván Argote, Mathilde Denize and Gregor Hildebrandt, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Johan Creten, Christiane Pooley, Samuel Boutruche, Jerome Sans, Mathieu Lelièvre, Marie Maertens, Charles Pépin, Serena Carone, Alicja Kwade, Vittoria Matarrese, Colin Lemoine, and Matthieu Poirier.
