The 16th Edition of Drawing Now Puts Ecofeminist Drawing in the Spotlight

Since 2007 Drawing Now Art Fair has been the leading platform and voice of a discipline that is too often neglected and yet rich in ideas, techniques and committed creation: contemporary drawing. For its 16th edition, the fair welcomes more than 73 galleries and exhibits 2.000 works that illustrate the great diversity that drawing encompasses. This year in partnership with the Salon du Dessin, held at the Palais Brongniart, Drawing Now presents at the Carreau du Temple the exhibition Prisme du “Prisme du féminin: machines, oocytes, fils, potions” by Joana P.R Neves in collaboration with the Frac Picardie.

Held on Wednesday 22, the exhibition opening was also the occasion to announce the winner of the Drawing Now Prize. Chosen among six nominated candidates, this year’s winner is the ecofeminist artist Suzanne Husky. Represented by the Alain Gurtharc gallery and based in San Francisco, the Franco-American artist wins the 15.000 euro prize for her work, which stands at the crossroads of ethnobotany and crafts. Suzanne Husky’s œuvre is highly sensitive and speaks to and about our societies through the prism of fictional narratives that bring to life a pre-capitalist and exo-feminist world.

Drawing Now runs from 22 to 26 March.
