Gauchere’s Flawlessly Calibrated Fashion Show
Best known for her impeccably tailored monochrome suits, Marie-Christine Statz keeps on pursuing her minimalist style. This time, the German-born designer is focusing on clean cuts to achieve a sharply delineated silhouette with a more graphic look. The formal, monochrome palette dominating the collection is tinged with notes of colour (orange-red, saffron, yellow, lilac, and pastel blue hues) lending the looks a more edgy, urban feel.
Overall, the style is more fragmented than usual, thanks to superimpositions of textures, such as fleecy cotton, stiff leather and flowing silk chiffons. The Gauchere woman is effortlessly, yet impeccably, put together. She’s a young, working girl, and so it is reflected in her wardrobe, composed of jogging trousers and mini shorts but also formal suits. Her attitude is relaxed, she seeks clothes to be most and above all comfortable and versatile. Beneath the more organic contours and fabric layers, the body finds liberation through the designer’s perfectly calibrated assembly.
Amidst this blend of tailoring, sportswear fit and elegant poolside flip-flops, it is worth mentioning that the range of accessories has expanded to also include leather clutch bags and Gauchere’s first eyewear, made in collaboration with French-Californian eyewear brand Ahlem.
