26.02.2020 Manufacture des Gobelins, Paris #fashion

A front row seat at Lanvin Fall/Winter 2020 with Virgil Abloh and Zahia Dehar

Despite a stormy start when rained threatened the presentation of his collection at the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac last season, Bruno Sialelli hit the bull’s eye this year by choosing the Manufacture des Gobelins to unveil his proposal for the autumn-winter 2020-21 on Wednesday. Against the backdrop of the stunning 17th century tapestries, treasures of the Manufacture since 1937, Lanvin’s artistic director presented a bourgeois vision of today’s men and women. In the front row, Isabelle Huppert, Virgil Abloh, Camélia Jordana, Zahia Dehar, Raya Martigny and Félix Maritaud discovered the collection that is all about refinement – from coats with rounded shoulders and 1950s fur collars to round gloves and leather goods. French fashion icon Audrey Marnay made her return to the catwalks, while sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid ruled the runway as their mother, ex-model Yolanda Hadid, proudly looked on. After the show, everyone rushed backstage to congratulate the designer who succeeded in restoring the spark to the house created in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin that remains the oldest French fashion house still designing today.
