La Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy 1798 and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac pay Tribute to the Art of Cloisonné Enamel
At the invitation of Martin Pietri, Mathieu Sansonetti, and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the collaboration between La Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy 1798 and the famous designer blends heritage and contemporary creation. “LONGUE VIE, LONGWY”: Behind this word game lies an exceptional project that puts into dialogue the tradition of the cloisonné enamel with the designer’s joyful and poetic pop universe. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s poetic and expressive motifs find an ideal setting in the refined forms and age-old techniques of the Manufacture, giving birth to unique pieces that are both objets d’art and objets de vie. This encounter celebrates audacity, heritage and transmission, while opening up new perspectives for French decorative art.
In the words of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, this “fusion” is a reinvention in which camouflage, angels and doves symbolise mimicry and spirituality, while primary colours and golden hues symbolise a union between pop culture and the sacred. Martin Pietri, President of the Manufacture, emphasises that Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has transported them into his dreamlike universe through his creativity.
The collection features bowls, ball vases, lamps, cornet vases, and candle holders that impressed Mathieu Samsonetti, Hélène Benhamou, Juliette Longuet, Guillaume Houzé, Jérôme de Noirmont, Pauline de Drouas, and Joséphine Day, among others.
