Zidoun-Bossuyt Inaugurates Its First Parisian Gallery with An Exhibition by American Summer Wheat

After Luxembourg and Dubai, Zidoun-Bossuyt is settling down in the heart of the Parisian gallery district, Saint Germain-des-Près. The gallery, a pioneer in the promotion of contemporary African-American art, was founded by Nordine Zidoun and Audrey Bossuyt in 2013 and gained later recognition for its expertise and for its support of emerging artists from the diasporas. The gallery also exhibited major figures of the Afro-American art, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jean Dubuffet to name just a few. To mark its Parisian opening, the founders decided to put light on American artist Summer Wheat through her solo show “Sweet On The Tongue”. Wheat (born in 1977) works and lives in New York. Exploring various themes like vanity, love and visibility, the artist combines references and techniques, drawing inspiration from Egyptian cultures and Native American imagery as well as from pop art to produce large, colorful paintings revealing characters and objects within complex scenarios.
