Perrotin Unveils New Exhibitions by Izumy Kato and Xavier Veilhan
On Thursday 1, Perrotin Paris inaugurated its latest exhibitions, two solo shows by multidisciplinary artists Izumi Kato and Xavier Veilham.
For his third solo show at the Parisian gallery, Japanese artist Izumi Kato presents a selection of new sculptures and paintings featuring fantastic hybrid creatures. Both melancholic and shamanic, disturbing yet burlesque, these strange creatures are all vehicles for us to plunge into the artist’s private and singular creative universe.
On the other space, French artist Xavier Veilhan inaugurates “Portrait Mode”, a solo exhibition exploring a historic genre, that of the portrait Veilhan proposes his very own mode of portraiture, presented in two dimensions by combining marquetry and painting, and in three dimensions by using digital sculptures of solid wood, among other techniques. The subjects of his pieces are friends, members of the studio staff, and familiar everyday animals.
Following the opening, the evening continued at Le Pechoir, in Ménnilmonant for a party organised in collaboration with TRAX magazine, which featured DJ sets by Melody Cazenave and Acid Roni and a glass of Perrier-Jouet champagne. We met Iván Argote, Mathilde Denize, Jean-Philippe Delhomme and many others, including Aure Atika, Jérome Sans, Christophe Chassol, Yorgo Tloupas, Jonathan Lambert, Sophie Makariou…
