The 16th Edition of the Closerie des Lilas Prize
Since its inception back in 2007, the Closerie des Lilas Prize has been aimed at supporting women’s literature. Driven by their shared commitment to independence and inclusivity, the founders Emmanuelle de Boysson, Carole Chrétiennot, Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre, Stéphanie Janicot, Jessica Nelson and Tatiana de Rosnay set up a permanent presidency and an all-female guest jury, that changes every year. For this 2023 edition, the Closerie des Lilas welcomes Dominique Bona, Lison Daniel, Zita D’Hauteville, Laurence Ferrari, Amanda Lear, Géraldine Pailhas and Vanessa Schneider.
Last Tuesday, this exceptional jury bestowed the prize upon Yasmine Ghata for her novel “Le testament du Prophète” at a mythical brasserie on the Boulevard Montparnasse. The event gathered artists and figures of the French cultural scene, as well as prominent women of the Closerie des Lilas Prize, such as Amélie Nothomb, Orlan, Anne Berest, Justine Lévy and Sarah Chiche, who also revelled in a DJ set by Flore Benguigui. A paramount event that speaks for the commitment of Closerie des Lilas and boosts the dissemination of women’s literature.
