Kandy G. Lopez’s Exhibition Opening at the Florence Foundation
Curated by Mikaela Sardo Lamarche and presented in collaboration with ACA Galleries (New York), “Textile Truths: Faces of Resilience” marks Kandy G. Lopez’s first solo exhibition in France. To celebrate this milestone, the Florence Foundation hosted a special evening for friends, collectors, and journalists to discover the exhibition in the presence of the artist.
Born in New Jersey in 1987, Kandy G. Lopez is a multimedia Afro-Caribbean American artist whose work challenges traditional conventions of portraiture. Her monumental pieces, embroidered with vividly coloured wool, command attention. They lend strength and visibility to those whom history has so often overlooked. Presenting her work at the Florence Foundation is, therefore, a significant gesture. This first exhibition in France is more than an artistic event: it is a statement, an acknowledgement, and a celebration of diversity.
At the opening, we were delighted to meet Casey Bergen, Polly-Anna Monckton, Deborah Ittah Waintraub, Evi Keller, Sébastien Bizet, and many others.
