“Stunning!” Even for a woman accustomed to couture shows and opulent style, Catherine Deneuve could not contain her enthusiasm after the finale of the Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture show. It must be said that the designer went big once again, inviting Dita Von Teese, Coco Rocha and Anna Cleveland to walk his show. “It’a a little kabuki, a little Noh,” he pointed out backstage. “Pleats galore” is his Spring/Summer 2019 season theme. “It’s quite Folies Bergère, too,” Farida Khelfa remarked right after the show. Makes sense: Gaultier has been gathering crowds since October with his revue “Fashion Freak Show” at Folies Bergère—which will soon be starring the one and only Dita Von Teese. The runway’s front row included Line Renaud, Kat Graham and the new Miss France, Vaimalama Chaves (dressed in Gaultier, of course). The last word goes to Catherine Deneuve, though: “It’s always perfect!”
