The Institut Giacometti presents ‘Giacometti and Ancient Egypt’

From June 21 to October 10, the Institut Giacometti presents a new exhibition dedicated to Alberto Giacometti’s relationship with Ancient Egypt. Organized in collaboration with the Louvre Museum, the exhibition creates a dialogue between the emblematic works of the Swiss artist and exceptional loans from the museum. ‘Giacometti and Ancient Egypt’ is the result of a collective effort by three curators: Thierry Pautot, curatorial attaché and head of the Foundation’s archives and research, Romain Perrin (Giacometti Foundation), and Marc Etienne, chief curator for Louvre’s Department of Egyptian Antiquities. The exhibition highlights Giacometti’s fascination with ancient Egyptian works and their importance in his aesthetic conception, both in sculpture and painting. After the tour, the guests enjoyed the Institut’s outdoor space with a concert by Egyptian artist and singer Abdullah Miniawy.
