Inauguration of the Cornette de Saint Cyr Auction House

Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr, who has been the hammerhead for more than forty years, has just opened an auction house on Avenue Hoche for his house of the same name””In order to give more synergy and scope to his activities and to get closer to his collectors””. A space of 1600m2 on five floors, where the auctioneer in the eternal Burberry shirt lays his chairs in two auction rooms and will present his treasures of art history before dispersal to the four corners of the globe.

Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr lives the adventure with his family, having passed on his vocation to his sons, Bertrand and Arnaud, who work alongside him as partners in the firm. Remarkable weaponry of all? The sale of the Alain Delon collection or the estate of the painter Fujita, without forgetting, in 2008, that of the furniture of the Royal Monceau.

In the inaugural sale of October 27, dedicated to modern art, we will find some outstanding works of the twentieth century, including an unpublished series of drawings and an oil on canvas by Francis Picabia, a matrix by Alberto Giacometti or one of the masterpieces of Western sculpture from the late nineteenth century, still never presented on the market: L’Aurore by Camille Claudel. As for the next day’s, it is time for contemporary art with a collection of works from Claude Gilli’s collection.

It’s a good start to the 2014 FIAC season.
