The Intimate Opening of Maison Gainsbourg
Serge Gainsbourg’s dwelling, located on 5 bis rue de Verneuil, was closed to the public for over three decades. The house had been impeccably preserved by his daughter Charlotte and is now home to a museum dedicated to the artist’s life. Covering a surface of 130m2, this two-storey building is filled with souvenirs, furniture, clothes and trinkets that tell the story of his bohemian life and those wild years. Safeguarded from the passage of time as if in a space-time capsule, the house stands as a temple where everything has remained unchanged. On September 20, the building was open to the public for an intimate inauguration, where visitors could raise a toast to the legendary artist while listening to some of his best songs in a bar located at number 14 on the same street.
