If there is one place you should be at the beginning of December, it’s Miami. As Art Basel Miami Beach prepares to open to the public, Emmanuel Perrotin and Massimo de Carlo honored the Italian artist Paola Pivi with an insider dinner hosted at the Miami Beach Edition hotel restaurant. The two galleries celebrated the artist’s exhibition at The Bass Museum: “Art with a View” features her famously colorful feathered polar bears and her impressive 80-piece mattress installation. Perrotin has devoted a prime place to Paola Pivi’s work at the fair, presenting a solo show called “What Goes Round-Art Comes Round.” The installation covers the floor, walls and ceiling with faux-fur carpets; it was previously shown at the gallery space in Paris in 2010. To celebrate the event, Emmanuel Perrotin’s friends—the muse Michèle Lamy, the artist Daniel Arsham, the musician Poppy and the actress Nathalie Kelley—all made the dinner something to remember.
