500 artists, 225 exhibitions, 220 000 visitors. It is with those successful numbers in mind that Crédac, the Contemporary Art Center of Ivry, celebrated its thirtieth anniversary this week. In its premises of Manufacture des Oeillets, a former metallurgical factory, the art center welcomed its guests for an animated evening. The most awaited event was the presentation of the anniversary book “INDEX 1987/2017”. With 700 pages recounting three decades of artistic exhibitions, the book is a true collector’s object. Eight artists previously exhibited here were invited to sublimate the book by designing a cover reflecting their artistic vision. Among them, Karina Bisch, Delphine Coindet, Didier Rittener, Corentin Canesson were present. Crédac also introduced “For Octopus, monkeys and people”, by Japanese artist Shimabuku, with whom Say Who met a few days earlier. He presented a series of historical works never exhibited in France before, which question cultural and geographical borders, notably through symbols such as the octopus or the monkey. The evening ended with speeches by some of Crédac’s figureheads (Martin Bethenod, President, Philippe Bouyssou, Mayor of Ivry, to name a few), followed by a cocktail with a DJ set by Tony Regazzoni.
