Ida Immendorff Brings Haute Couture Closer to Paradise

Village Reille, Paris

On Monday, January 26th, Parisians and other guests of Haute Couture Week discovered Ida Immendorff’s very first collection. In the church of Village Reille, the young fashion designer presented a line of costumes called “HI, WAY TO HEAVEN?”, and it was a fitting name. Using only white and cream tones, the collection presents a heavenly, dreamlike fashion straight out of children’s fairy tales. The costumes are inspired by both fantastical and more realistic animals, among which we find a unicorn alongside a cat. Amongst this world of masks and headdresses, we notice a hennin, a revisited nightcap, and even a horned tiara reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty.

Frozen like wax statues on pedestals, the models with powdered faces resembled sculptural, almost ghostly creatures. A collection whose small number of looks was quickly offset by the powerful impact of the outfits and the live background music performed by a children’s choir. After a Fashion Week full of immersive sets and performances of all kinds, Haute Couture is shaping up to be just as impressive!
