Hervé Van der Straeten Presents ANTIDOTE, the Gallery’s 25th Anniversary Exhibition
French pioneer of collectible design, Hervé Van der Straeten is presenting a double programme to mark the gallery’s 25th anniversary. First, the designer shares his work on volumes and movement with a collection made of harsh graphic lines. Bringing a fresh, optimistic perspective, his use of shimmering lacquers, vibrant colours and Plexiglas conjures a wild, cheerful and yet mysterious universe.
The second part of the exhibition showcases cabinetry of exceptional quality and craftsmanship, such as dressers made of exotic wood marquetry, cabinets made of ebony and lapis, parchment-covered furniture and bronze and rock crystal lighting fixtures. In total, around thirty varied pieces pay tribute to the technical excellence of the designer’s workshops, located just outside Paris. The exhibition feels like an antidote to the immediacy of our times.
At the opening of this anniversary exhibition, among the unique and precious furniture, we met Stephen Jones, Charles Zana, Pierre Hardy, Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand and Sandie Roy, among others.
