Hernan Bas, Klara Kristalova and Julian Charriere at Perrotin Paris

On April 13th, Perrotin Paris unveiled three major exhibitions. Held at 10 impasse Saint-Claude, Panchronic Gardens is Julian Charrière’s first solo show at the gallery. The French-Swiss artist presents two emblematic works: an immersive installation bearing the exhibition title, which evokes our intricate history of mining the lithosphere and the video work And Beneath It All Flows Liquid Fire, depicting the coexistence of opposing elements like water and fire in a burning fountain. Combining installation, sculpture, film, and photography, Charrière’s projects often involve fieldwork in liminal spaces, from industrial extraction sites to volcanic calderas, from remote ice fields to nuclear testing grounds.

The gallery also presents Beast, Klara Kristalova’s eighth solo show, her fourth at Perrotin Paris. On this occasion, the artist gathers a new body of sculptures and works on paper where reality blends with fiction, and boundaries between nature and humanity become blurred revealing the fragility of life and the complexity of the relationships forged between beings.

Lastly, Hernan Bas’ sixth solo exhibition at the gallery, The First and the Last. Featuring paintings and works on paper, the exhibition explores the blurred boundaries between reality and fiction, drawing viewers into a world where the extraordinary and the mundane collide. Taking inspiration from various sources, such as the recent case of a tourist caught carving his name on the Colosseum in Rome, the artist captivatingly explores the absurdities of existence and their poignant beauty.
