HANGAR Y: A Promising Metamorphosis

Hangar Y, a former airship shed located in Meudon is headed to become Paris’ new cultural hotspot. The historical venue opened its doors for an exclusive preview on October 20, demonstrating its tremendous potential and ongoing transformation.

The sneak peek offered a nice glimpse of what this alternative and artistic cultural space will look like when it officially opens in March 2023. The program, constructed in collaboration with Art Explora, included multiple events that took place both inside the building itself and in the park and surrounding areas. Inside the wooden nave, visitors could discover a permanent installation by Korean artist Lee Bul (Willing  To Be Vulnerable – Metalized Balloon V5), as well as an exhibition presenting the results of the residency organized,  this past September, by Art Explora x Artagon. The project brought together 10 young artists and engaged them in an artistic reflection on the history of the venue. The visitors could also discover several workshops organized by Mumo x Centre Pompidou’s mobile museum initiative.

Music and dance were also on the agenda with exclusive performances by Keiyaa and Yoann Bourgeois. The latter delivered a masterful performance taking place simultaneously inside and outside the nave, blending together multimedia art, theatre, dance, and music. The evening ended with electrifying DJ sets by Agoria and Carl Craig. No need to say the weekend set high expectations!
