At Pitti Uomo, Haculla mixes streetwear, street art and spooky vibes
During Pitti Uomo 95 in Florence, the New York luxury streetwear brand Haculla made its debut in the form of a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” runway. Drawn silhouettes dressed in masks, mixed with revisited classic pieces, zigzagged down the runway as if they had escaped from an emptied hospital. In 2015, Jon Koon, entrepreneur and designer, teamed up with Venezuelan artist Harif Guzman to create Haculla. This collection is a retrospective of the artist’s 20 years of work in downtown Manhattan. Guzman’s colorful style, reminiscent of Basquiat, enhances t-shirts, hoodies and jackets with embroidery and prints. The Haculla project has grown exponentially and the brand is now distributed in more than 40 countries. The concept is high-end non-conformist streetwear, with a unique artistic touch. With the Y/Project show happening the same day, revisiting the “classic” fashion show is clearly on trend.
