Madame Figaro celebrates the “Grand Prix de l’Héroïne 2019”
Since 2006, Madame Figaro magazine has been honoring literary talents and the extraordinary heroines featured in these works. This year’s eight-member jury—president Nathalie Rykiel, plus Caroline de Maigret, Rachida Brakni, Sarah Lavoine, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, Alex Lutz, Pierre Lescure and Bernard Babkine, from the Madame Figaro masthead—joined five readers of the magazine to select the winners. Among the 15 books in competition, Gabriella Zalapì won the French novel prize for “Antonia” (Éditions ZOE), the American writer C.E. Morgan won the foreign novelist prize for “Le sport des rois” (Éditions Gallimard), and Dominique de Saint Pern left with the biography prize for “Edmonde” (Éditions Stock). The ceremony was held in the Tauber room of the Hôtel Raphaël in Paris, and the event continued on the hotel’s sunny terrace long into the summer evening.
