Germanier Warms Our Hearts with a Colourful Fashion Show

He’s one of the great designers behind some of the most spectacular outfits of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Remember those of the “Golden Voyager”, or the pianist suspended next to Juliette Armanet? It was the work of this spirited fashion designer. With the Olympics keeping his agenda busy these past months, Kevin Germanier had little time to put together this new collection. Entitled “Les Désastreuses” and borrowing inspiration from “Knights of the Zodiac”, a cult series from the 80s, the collection plays on a phonetic play between celestial bodies and the zodiac. Enhanced by a line-up of drag queens as models, these new attires were a testament to the potential of clever recycling, since they were made of ensembles from the Olympics, pieces from old collections, parts of plastic mannequins retrieved from the rubbish bins in the Sentier district, or even tossed sequins. Germanier has quite a knack for giving a flamboyant second life to pieces otherwise fallen into oblivion.
