George Clooney Steals the Spotlight on the Excelsior Red Carpet in Venice
At the Excelsior on the Lido, George Clooney made a splash with his trademark poster boy aplomb. Starring Noah Baumbach’s new film, he plays Jay Kelly, a world-class movie star lost between irony and melancholy. As for Benedetta Porcaroli and director Carolina Cavalli, they brought to the catwalk “The Kidnapping of Arabella”, which already has the potential to become a classic. Then came the all–Italian duo, Valeria Golino and Jasmine Trinca, joined by fellow cast member Saul Nanni. The magnetic tandem play in “La Gioia” by Nicolangelo Gelormini, which turns a true-crime case into a disturbing, lyrical and uncompromising film.
On the red carpet, the dresses may steal the spotlight, but the real competition is between the films: because, in the end, Venice is a ring where Hollywood and auteur cinema stare each other down and, between one flash and the next, decide who really runs the show.
