Positive fear. Beautifying fear. Fashionable fear. Glamorous. Sexiness. All in GCDS world. The new GCDS collection, designed by Giuliano Calza, is inspired by the idea of fear. Not that one that paralyses, but that one that unleash the soul instead of eating it. For Giuliano Calza, fear is an expression of joy. And the Fall-/Winter 2022-23 show, presented at the Rotonda della Besana in Milan, is about a fear tinged with glitter, candy pinks and glowing greens, shiny latex, sexiness and fang heels. This is entirely licit and this is what happened on the catwalk, inside a former church, on a ground that once was a lazaret. The dark elements are there, and yet it is a cheerful one, radiant with color, sparkling with glamour and encrusted with stones, curving in hourglass shapes and skintight bodysuits. Blooming with flowers, too. Swarming with Hello Kitty prints and Bram Stoker frills mixed with GCDS’ signature sartorial blazers, accessorized with comma bags and thigh high boots. Taylor Hill, Ottawa Kwami and Tobias Dionisi walked for the show. Sitting in front row the italian top model Bianca Balti, Symone, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race s13, Gigi Goode, Chiara Capitani and Ryan Prevedel.
