Opéra Garnier debuts its 2019/20 dance season
The opening gala for the Paris Opera’s dance season was held, as usual, on the eve of Paris Fashion Week. The event—organized for the past five years by Stéphane Lissner (Director General of the Opéra de Pairs) and Aurélie Dupont (Dance Director)—once again brought together a prestigious set of guests. The evening began with the traditional Ballet Parade; then the Stars and First Dancers performed a selection from the greatest ballets in the repertoire. The dancers’ costumes for Serge Lifar’s “Variations” were made by Chanel (a patron of the opening gala, along with Rolex); the final performance piece, “Blake Works I,” was created by William Forsythe and set to music by James Blake. After a special dinner orchestrated by Le Fooding, the fête kicked off in the Rotonde des Abonnés with a DJ set from Agathe Mougin and Wladimir Schall. In attendance were the singer Miguel, Virginie Ledoyen, Ludovic from Saint Sernin, Haider Ackermann, Isabel Marant and Kiddy Smile.
