Rose & Cuir: Frédéric Malle and Jean-Claude Ellena unveil their new fragrance
When he created Les Éditions de Parfums in 2000, Frédéric Malle’s aim was to create a community of talented perfumers (including the legendary Edmond Roudnitska, Dominique Ropion and Pierre Bourdon). His goal: to allow perfumers to freely unleash their creativity and to give luxury perfume its work of art status back. Jean-Claude Ellena is the epitome of this fragrance-as-fashion movement. An iconic perfumer (notably at Hermès), he officially launched a brand new scent for Les Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle. “Rose et Cuir” (“Rose and Leather”) is a new feminine fragrance inspired by a blue sky after a stormy day. A “subtle game of oppositions” whose bright rose gradually reveals a surprise : leather in its raw state. This sumptuous scent was created in Grasse, but was officially launched in Paris at an intimate dinner at famed Parisian restaurant, Jean-François Piège’s La Poule au Pot. After a day of indulging their sense of smell, Frédéric Malle and Jean-Claude Ellena invited journalists, artists and friends to tickle their taste buds over a delicious dinner celebrating the launch. Pierre Hardy, Vincent Darré, Natasha Fraser, Lorena Vergani and interior designers Charlotte de Tonnac and Hugo Sauzay were among the VIP guests at this scentsational event.
