François Laffanour is made an Officer of Arts & Letters
Gallery owner François Laffanour, founder of the Downtown gallery, was awarded the insignia of Officer of Arts and Letters by Mr. Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres on Friday, December 9th in the presence of Olivier Gabet and Catherine Prouvé. Since its creation in the early 80’s, the Downtown gallery, located in the square of the antique dealers, in the heart of Saint-Germain des Prés, proposes a new conception in the art of furnishing, at the service of a new way of life, shaped by the need for freedom and efficiency. Precursor of a then little-known estate, François Laffanour thus contributed to rehabilitating and allowing the emergence of a little-known estate, that of the 20th century architects’ furniture.
