Nothing can replace these moments when friends meet, share their ideas, their dreams, their meals” wrote the writer Amin Maalouf (Les Désorientés, 2012). Since 2001, 21 September has been a day dedicated to promoting the ideals of peace throughout the world, a special time to forge links between neighbours, citizens, peoples and nations. It is in this spirit that UNESCO, the Fooding Guide and Nespresso imagined the exhibition”Sharing the Taste of the World”. on the occasion of the World Day of Peace.
Through four mythical dishes, the exhibition highlights the common points and this peaceful moment of encounter that is the sharing of a meal, a true cultural and social binder. These four”recipe posters” signed Les Cuistots Migrateurs, Sylvestre Wahid (Brasserie Thoumieux), Régina Tchelly (Favela Organica, Rio de Janeiro) or Amaury Guyot (Dersou and Sherry Butt) reminded us that the”taste of others” is often shared, more particularly thanks to the universal language of cooking. Starter, main course, dessert and coffee, the guests were able to make their taste buds travel and admire the photographs of the photographer Vigile Guinard on the occasion of the opening at UNESCO Headquarters in the 7th arrondissement, .
