Le Fooding launches its 2020 guide at Le Président

France’s coolest restaurant guide Le Fooding brought Le Fun to Paris on Monday night for a soirée celebrating the launch of its 2020 Guide to France’s best restaurants. Le Fooding’s founder Alexandre Cammas and current director Marine Bidaud welcomed a delicious mix of guests including chefs, restaurateurs, foodies and a heaping portion of French celebrities for an “anti-Fooding” night at Le Président, a Chinese restaurant in Paris’ 11th arrondissement. 2020 also marks the 20th anniversary of the magazine that has been shaking up the often stuffy French restaurant scene and creating its own brand of “bistronomie” since its launch in 2000. Le Fooding’s Guide – and celebratory party- are always among the most anticipated events of the Parisian year. Monday night’s prize ceremony didn’t disappoint and brought an eclectic mix of famous faces from the film, fashion and food worlds including Jonathan Cohen, Bérénice Béjo, Michel Hazanavicius, Christopher Thompson, Bertrand Bonello, Romain Duris, Caroline de Maigret, Cécile Togni, Géraldine Pailhas and so many more who were treated to DJ sets from Piu Piu and live music from Bamao Yendé. Sophie-Marie Larrouy and Marina Rollman were tasked with announcing the prize winners on stage as guests listened in with mouthfuls of food. Le Fooding Guide 2020 awarded off-the-beaten-track restaurants beloved by the magazine’s editors not for fancy table settings or famous chefs, but instead for places with good vibes and delicious food including a Best Burger award (Dumbo, Paris) a best pizza prize to (Goult, Vaucluse) and other more original accolades like Best Antidepressant (Billili, Paris) or best “finger-licker” (Fritto, Sète).  “Fooding d’amour” awards went to Claire & Hugo in Troyes and Le Maquis in Paris. The awards ceremony and party embraced the guide’s theme of their 2020 trend of “Anti-Fooding” including a selection of places editors admit being sometimes “ashamed” to eat at (think: sub-par décor, eccentric owners …)  The evening blended food-stained rags with fancy napkins to celebrate their new guide blending famed fine dining spots and tiny hole-in-a-wall neighbourhood bistros. Guests left with their hearts and bellies full and Le Fooding’s 2020 guide filled with 800 Fooding-approved spots for their next night out.
