‘Icons of Modern Art’: The Fondation Louis Vuitton presents the Morozov Collection
After the exhibition dedicated to the Shchukin Collection in 2017, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is now presenting the second part of the major event ‘Icons of Modern Art’. With ‘The Morozov Collection’, the Fondation unveils nearly 200 masterpieces of French and Russian modern art collected by the Moscow brothers Mikhail Abramovich Morozov and Ivan Abramovich Morozov at the beginning of the last century. The Collection is exhibited for the first time outside Russia, in partnership with the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg), the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow) and the Tretyakov National Gallery (Moscow). Under the direction of curator Anne Baldassari, the exhibition (which coincides with the reopening of the Fondation) brings together major works by Picasso, Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Renoir, and relates them to the work of emblematic artists of the Russian avant-garde such as Vroubel, Malevitch, Répine, Larionov, and Sérov.
