Fondation Cartier by Jean Nouvel: Exploring Future Architecture at Fondazione Giorgio Cini
In an unforgettable evening at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the Island of San Giorgio, the world of architecture and culture gathered for the highly anticipated opening of The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain by Jean Nouvel.
The exhibition, part of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, presents the visionary designs Nouvel has crafted for the Fondation Cartier’s future spaces. With a select group of cultural figures in attendance, Say Who captured exclusive moments, immortalizing the energy and creativity of the night, with guests among others, Mark Wigley, Elizabeth Diller, Béatrice Grenier, Michele Lamy, Eric Costa, Carlo Ratti, Maja Hoffmann, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Hanneli Rupert, Grazia Quaroni and India Mahdavi, Lina Ghotmeh, Andrea Trimarchi et Simone Farresin (Formafantasma).
From May 10th to September 14th, 2025, this groundbreaking exhibition takes visitors on a journey into the future of architecture and contemporary art. Nouvel’s transformative designs for the Fondation Cartier’s upcoming Parisian location, a mid-19th century Haussmannian building near the Louvre, embrace the principles of dynamic architecture. By reimagining the space as a responsive and evolving environment, Nouvel integrates adaptable elements that interact with light, space, and the urban context. This approach redefines how we perceive museums and cultural spaces, making them more fluid, interactive, and attuned to the rhythms of contemporary life.
The exhibition embodies Nouvel’s belief that architecture is not just about constructing buildings but creating cultural environments that engage with their surroundings and transcend the ordinary. The Fondation Cartier has long championed architecture as a bridge between disciplines, and this exhibition offers a glimpse into a world where art and architecture exist in a constant, dynamic dialogue.
