It would be wrong to think Fashion Weeks are the only events defining today’s fashion. And if there is one city that did understand the importance of a B2B trade show in the textile industry, it is Florence. With Pitti Immagine Uomo (established in the Italian city since 1972!), the menswear industry has found its biggest event, which not only welcomes some of its greatest names but has also comes in support of emerging talents. Jonathan Anderson, Gosha Rubchinskiy or Virgil Abloh are just a few of the designers Pitti Uomo has supported throughout the years. Thus, Raffaello Napoleone, Chief Executive of Pitti Immagine, launched on June 12 Pitti Uomo’s 94th edition during an official opening ceremony that brought together politicians (Florence mayor Dario Nardella), official personalities (Andrea Cavicchi, president of Centro di Firenze della Moda Italiana) and representatives of the biggest Italian fashion houses, such as Paolo Zegna and Brunello Cucinelli. It was also the opportunity to discover the show’s incredible scenography: an optical illusion created by colored stripes running all over the outside space. Walking through the show’s main venues, one couldn’t help but taking inspiration from Pitti Uomo’s great street style, the kind one only finds in Florence.
