The 36th Hyères Festival unveils its jury and finalists

“The institution of culture must give hope to the younger generation”. Before announcing the juries and finalists of the 36th International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories of Hyères, Jean-Pierre Blanc started his speech with some powerful words. After a 2020 edition somewhat shaken by social distancing, this year’s Festival was presented in an almost unchanged context, and before a smaller audience. But far from being bittersweet, yesterday’s celebration was primarily motivated by the desire to meet again, if not physically, through social media and the @villanoailles Instagram Live. And it was all about celebrating the new generation, best embodied by Céleste Brunnquell (“En thérapie”) dressed in Chanel. The French actress on the rise opened the night by reciting “Les Saisons d’avril à octobre”, a poem written by Marie-Laure de Noailles. After a few words from Pascale Mussard, president of the Festival, Jean-Pierre Blanc unveiled the names of this year’s jury. As guest of honor, Louise Trotter, the artistic director of Lacoste, will preside over the fashion jury, which will award the Grand Prix of the Jury Première, the Chloé Prize, the Prix 19M des Métiers d’Art de Chanel, as well as the brand new Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Prize. The photography jury will be chaired by Dominique Issermann and the fashion accessories jury by Christian Louboutin. After the announcements, it was time for music: Claire Laffut, dressed in Chanel, gave a concert accompanied by Gaël Rakotondrabe at the piano. She interpreted her song “Tombée dans un rêve” (Falling in a dream), which was born from a memory created at the Villa Noailles… The Festival will take place from October 14 to 17 at Villa Noailles, Hyères.
