Festival Extra! launches its third edition
Literature has been front and center at the Centre Pompidou this September. In addition to the new exhibition “Bacon en toutes lettres” (which traces how Francis Bacon’s work was shaped by the authors who influenced him), the Extra! literary festival—organized by Jean-Max Colard and held from September 11 to 15—celebrated its third edition. (The visual created for the festival was created by artist Thomas Lélu, featuring Alice Moireau with a Bic pen to her lips). This edition put the spotlight on artist Stefan Brüggemman, who unveiled a spectacular painting in the Forum of the Centre Pompidou, plus visitors could listen to his “Hyper-Poems” read by the ever-iconic Iggy Pop. Also on the agenda: a visit to Michel Houellebecq’s future Maison-Musée and the Bacon Book Club, a series of literary evenings tied to the aforementioned exhibition. A festival highlight was the Bernard Heidsieck-Centre Pompidou Literary Prize, this year awarded to Cia Rinne.
