Tribute to Chu Teh-Chun, A Journey Through the Nebulae of Abstraction
From April 20th to June 30th, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice hosts “In Nebula”, an exceptional exhibition devoted to Chu Teh-Chun. This retrospective is curated by art historian Matthieu Poirier and celebrates the work of the Franco-Chinese painter, a key figure in the Gestural Abstraction movement.
The exhibition features some fifty of Chu Teh-Chun’s most emblematic paintings, offering a broad overview of his career, including both recent works and some of his earliest artistic endeavours. Chu Teh-Chun’s relentlessly precise technique, reminiscent of that of a calligrapher, questions the boundaries of pictorial representation, creating works imbued with intense chromatic energy and turbulent, fleeting impressions.
Spread across three levels, the scenography invites visitors to explore the artist’s fascinating universe, where colours and shapes evoke cosmic nebulae. Held in partnership with the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and with the support of the CHU Teh-Chun Foundation, this retrospective promises an unforgettable artistic experience at the 60th International Art Biennial.
