Paris Men’s Fashion Week: Études takes science fiction to the runway
In a Paris still paralyzed by national strikes, Études presented its autumn-winter 2020-21 collection against a backdrop of dystopian reality. This season, the trio composed of Aurélien Arbet, Jérémie Egry and José Lamali sought inspiration in the political surrealism of the animated film “La Planète Sauvage” (1973). The digital prints on silk shirts and bomber jackets with alien patches are throwbacks to the portraits of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Edward Furlong from “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” (1991). The collection navigates between extraterrestrial intelligence (see the heatmap prints) and artificial intelligence also on display in the textile processing.
