Ellia Art Gallery Questions the Impermanence of Human Existence
Presented by Ellia Art Gallery in collaboration with Elena Korzhenevich, “IM-PERMANENCE” is the third instalment of a trilogy exploring the impermanence of existence. Preceded by “IM-PERFECTION” and “IM-POSSIBILITY”, this exhibition celebrates life cycles and the everlasting processes of death and rebirth.
The exhibition features the work of fourteen international artists, including Joël Andrianomearisoa, Theo Eshetu, Mwangi Hutter, Dimitri Lanctuit, Rachel Marks, MASBEDO, Kyoshi Nakagami, Moataz Nasr, Amira Paree, Maurice Pefura, Tedo Rekhviashvili, Astrid Staes and Vincent Witomski. A special selection of works from the Moleskine Foundation, featuring Chiharu Shiota, Moataz Nasr and Vincent Witomski, is also on show for the first time in France.
Structured around three major themes, the exhibition captivates visitors with its layout. First, ‘Cosmos, Universe’ tackles human insignificance in the face of cosmic cycles. ‘Human Experience’ explores the complexity of emotions, feelings and the quest for freedom, by questioning the suffering linked to attachments and the fear of loss. Lastly, “Nature, Seasons” emphasises the wisdom of natural impermanence, inviting us to accept the cycles of life and abandon any linear perception of time.
At the exhibition opening, we caught up with the gallery’s founders, Stéphane and Laurence Ellia, alongside the artists featured in the exhibition, Elena Korzhenevich, Joey Starr and many others.
