Villa Noailles unveils the winners of 2019 Design Parade
After a fun long weekend spent between Toulon and Hyères, the big winners of this 2019 edition of Design Parade were announced in Toulon on Saturday. (All trophies were designed by Arthur Hoffner and produced by Poterie Ravel.) François Champsaur and his jury awarded the Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels to the duo Céline Thibault & Géraud Pellottiero for their bathroom “Zou Maë!” They won 5,000 euros from Van Cleef & Arpels and a solo exhibition in Toulon for the next edition of the festival (and a place on the jury). The duo also left with the Public Prize of the city of Toulon. Chanel—a partner of Design Parade since 2016—inaugurated its Visual Merchandising Award, which it presented to Caroline Wolewinski and Sandro Della Noce. The National Furniture Prize was awarded to young Frenchman Hugo Drubay for his indoor garden. The next day, the finalists of the design competition were announced at the Villa Noailles in Hyères. (Before the ceremony began, there was admittedly a short detour to the Villa Romaine for pool time.) The highlights of the award ceremony: young Frenchman Grégory Granados won the Grand Prix du Jury for “Step,” his collective musical instruments that greatly intrigued the jury and its president Mathieu Lehanneur. He won a Rado watch (the brand is a sponsor of the prize), a one-year residency at the Cité de la Céramique in Sèvres, the CIRVA (Centre international de recherche sur le verre et les arts plastiques) in Marseille and the Villa Noailles. His work will be exhibited during the next edition of Design Parade, and he’s secured spot on the jury for the 2020 edition.
