Daniel Arsham signs his new “Sketchbook” in Paris
When it comes to Daniel Arsham, it is difficult to say who is more desired: the multi-disciplinary artist himself or his cherished works of art. King of collabs and Instagram celebrity, he embodies the new generation of artists mixing codes and eras. A die-hard Porsche fan, a relentless collector of sneakers and unobtainable watches, Arsham has revisited all the icons of pop culture by adding his signature touch. By molding in plaster the artefacts of the 80s and 90s, he confronts the wear and tear of time and our collective memory. A memory full of holes, symbolized by the abrasion of certain parts of his works, but also a story of fictional past (or future) exhibiting crystalline growth. With the support of his gallerist Emmanuel Perrotin, the prolific artist organized at Perrotin Gallery (76 rue de Turenne) a signing of his new book “Sketchbook”, a rare and unique collection of his unpublished drawings tracing all his passions, followed by a dinner in the enchanting salons of the Hotel de Crillon. Frédéric Arnault, Sarah Andelman, Matthew Williams and Ora ïto were among the happy few, who enjoyed the sweetness of the evening.
