The year 2017 marked the third edition of Asia Now, the first European “art fair boutique” entirely dedicated to contemporary Asian art. On the same dates as the FIAC from 18 to 22 October, the fair hosted more than thirty Asian and Western galleries highlighting contemporary creation from Asian countries. This year, South Korea was in the spotlight with the participation of the young curator Joanne Kim and the curatorial team of the Busan Biennale. On the program, a complete and varied journey that highlighted the work of Jooyoung Kim, a major figure of the first generation of Korean artists who practice the art of performance. Asia Now unveiled for the second consecutive year a project with Christie’s around contemporary Chinese design with the preview of the “BlooMing” installation by Studio MVW founded by Xu Ming and Virginie Moriette. During the five days of the fair, Asia Now once again attracted the attention of a public too unfamiliar with contemporary Asian art and brought together in one place renowned specialists such as the exhibition curator Jérôme Neutres or the businessman and collector Guy Ullens.
