CLUBBING: A Tribute to Club Culture at the Grand Palais Immersif
From May 12th, the Grand Palais Immersif takes us on a cultural and immersive journey into the history of clubs. Ever since the beginnings of club culture in the 70s, nightclubs have become places where boundaries break down and nothing matters more than music and dance. With CLUBBING, Pierre Giner offers a musical stroll through space and time to discover the history of an emblematic culture, from the 70s to 2010. Visitors can even create their own avatar & bring it onto the dancefloor!
From one room to the next, a little under thirty iconic clubs are presented: The Loft, 1970, Le Pacha 1973, Rex Club 1978, Les Bains Douches, 1978, The Haçienda, 1982, D-Edge, 2000, to name but a few. Among the many visual installations, the more adventurous can even try to convince a ruthless bouncer to let them into Berlin’s most famous club, Berghain. Joining in the party to better understand the artistry behind it: this is what CLUBBING is all about.
