Cinema That Breathes: The Filming Italy Venice Award 2025
Last Monday, the Lido hosted the 2025 edition of the Filming Italy Venice Award. The ceremony of the prestigious prize, which celebrates cinematic excellence during the Venice Film Festival, transformed the red carpet into a living organism showcasing the best of Italian cinema (and beyond).
The evening programme was led by artistic director Tiziana Rocca, who dedicated this edition “to all the women who, on and off set, fight every day to make their voices heard.”
Many well-known faces walked the carpet, including Sergio Castellitto and his wife Margaret Mazzantini, but also Ferzan Özpetek, who received the award for Best Director for Diamanti, Margherita Buy, who accepted the Venice Achievement Award, as well as Micaela Ramazzotti, Marco Giallini, Valentina Cervi, Rocco Papaleo, Matilde Gioli, Ambra Angiolini, the singer Piero Pelù, wrapped in a rainbow flag, and Alessio Boni. Franco Nero took the opportunity to announce his upcoming star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (scheduled for February 2026) before presenting Da’Vine Joy Randolph, star of The Holdovers – Lezioni di vita, with the Filming Italy International Award.
