Christie’s presents “The Exceptional Sale” in Paris
As part of Classic Week, Christie’s presented “The Exceptional Sale” on November 27th. This aptly titled exhibition that run from November 23rd-27th features exceptional works of art, rare books and manuscripts, furniture and decorative arts. Think: a portrait of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the age of 13 (attributed to Giambettino Cignaroli, School of Verona), the “Sunflowers” jacket from the Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture spring-summer 1998 collection, embroidered by Lesage (a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh), Auguste Rodin’s L’Age d’Airain, or a Louis XIV period chest attributed to André-Charles Boulle. The sale also included a selection of jewelry designed by Elie Top. Cécile Verdier and Julien Pradels, respectively president and CEO of Christie’s France welcomed guests to discover a preview of this exceptional selection. Here’s a look back on the opening evening.
