Chaillot Experience #2 Puts Taiwan’s Cultural Scene on the Spotlight

At the intersection between modern and traditional influences, Chaillot invites us to discover an exceptional program, this time focusing on the vitality and diversity of Taiwan’s cultural scene. Over the course of the two days was an unprecedented array of performances, including tea ceremonies, contemporary dance, screenings, strolls and concerts.

The Bulareyaung Dance Company will be performing their show Tiaen Tiamen, choreographed by Bulareyaung Pagarlava, who belongs to the Paiwan ethnic group, an aboriginal people of Taiwan, and brings cultural identity to his art. The public is also invited to the virtual reality screening of Singing Chen’s The Man Who Couldn’t Leave, a medium-length film that sheds light on the prison world of 1950s Taiwan, where we discover the persecution of political prisoners in the Green Island prison.

Thanks to this Chaillot Experience, the audience is immersed in the impressive vitality of Taiwan’s cultural scene: concerts and DJ sets mingle with Tai Chi workshops, and traditional puppetry meets electrifying performances and virtual reality. This journey into Taiwan’s artistic ecosystem was organized in close collaboration with the Centre culturel de Taïwan à Paris, artists and contributors.

During the many events and performances, we met Rachid Ouramdane, Yin Chun Chen, Bintou Dembele, Taiwanese pop star Abao and many others.
On December 13th and 14th, the Chaillot Experience #4 Party will be dedicated to the new generation, for audiences and artists alike, with the Mazelfreten, Kaori Ito, Christophe Haleb and the Zouze-Cie, Julie Nioche.
