Celebrating the Success of The Count Of Monte-Cristo at Château de la Napoule
Famous French writers are an endless source of inspiration for the film industry. After the 3 musketeers, it was about time for a new adaptation of the Count of Monte-Cristo. The pitch: in 1815, Louis XVIII is back on the throne and is facing opposition that the Emperor, relegated to Elba, is already thinking of taking advantage of. In Marseille, plagued by civil discord, the time is ripe for settling political and private scores. On the eve of his wedding, sailor Edmond Dantès finds himself arrested and taken to the Château d’If, without knowing why. From then on, his only thought is revenge.
With its breathtaking scenery and action scenes, this great adventure film is carried by Pierre Niney, who is as convincing as he is righteous. The film received a standing ovation at its Cannes screening, a triumph that continued at the Château de la Napoule. We met Anaïs Demoustier, Dimitri Rassam, Carole Bouquet, Pelagia Kolotouros, Patrick Mille, Suzanne Levy and Vassili Schneider.
