Casablanca’s “Venus as a Boy”, A Contemporary Odyssey Across Ancient Greece
Casablanca has just unveiled its latest collection, “Venus as a Boy”, which draws inspiration from Ancient Greece. Borrowed from a Björk song, the title evokes a reinterpretation of Venus, herself a Roman reinvention of Aphrodite. This blend of classical beauty and modernity embodies a shared philosophy, that is, an exploration of the links between past and present. By focusing on ancient Greece, the collection transcends the mere reproduction of the past to embody a timeless sense of elegance.
The fashion show also featured two remarkable collaborations: the first with Jeff Hamilton, renowned for his embroidered leather jackets, and the second with Ancient Greek Sandals, famous for its local craftsmanship. The collection incorporates different textures and materials, ranging from black satin to stretch fabrics, delivering a contemporary take on the ancient heritage.
In the menswear line, we didn’t fail to notice the draped suits and blazers also inspired by ancient Greece, including a black satin-wrapped dinner jacket and an embroidered evening suit. As for the women’s wardrobe, garments included wrap and double-breasted suits with new logo buttons and one-sleeve dresses made from delicate fabrics such as silk crepe.
The fashion show, brimming with references, was held at the Cirque d’hiver, a venue that enhanced Casablanca’s style… We met Lyna Khoudri, Ronisia, Claire Laffut, Clara Berry, Willy Cartier, Noémie Lenoir, Coco Rocha and many others.
