Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have become masters in the art of fashion shows inspired and large-scale. For the third part of their Memento collection, a journey through Kenzo’s archives, the duo paid tribute to Douanier Rousseau and the impact the French painter had on Kenzo Takada when he arrived in Paris. After all, from the jungle to the emblematic “tiger”, there is only one step. Very intimate, the parade took the form of a dinner where the colours and vegetal shapes are directly inspired by the painter’s work, while the silhouettes carrying his most emblematic works and moving works of art parade along the attic table. At the top of the stairs at 11 Quai de Conti, the finale takes the form of a living installation recreating Kenzo Takada’s major inspiration “Le Rêve”, which gave guests from Rose McGowan to Jasmine Sanders and Bob Marley’s granddaughter Selah Marley the perfect backdrop for an inspired Insta cliché.
